Cornerstone Christian Academy
Safe Conditions Policy
The following steps will be taken to ensure that your child is safe while at our school:
Safe Adult Supervision: All children will be supervised by a qualified adult who has completed a comprehensive background check. Our staff are CPR certified for educators by the American Red Cross. We have an AED onsite, and our staff is trained in its usage.
Facility Safety: The administrator is responsible for maintaining all interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, floors, ceilings, equipment, toys, and furnishing, in a safe condition, free of sharp points or jagged edges, splinters, protruding nails or wires, loose parts, rusty parts, or materials containing poisonous substances. Our facility is cleaned daily and kept in a sanitary condition. Desks, workstations, cafeteria tables, and kitchen surfaces are sanitized daily.
Fire Safety: Our fire panel and alarms are tied directly to the local fire department. If we have a fire in the building, the fire department will be notified when the alarm sounds. We conduct required fire panel and fire alarm testing. Our students and staff participate in monthly fire drills per the local fire marshal.
Weather Safety: Tornado drills are conducted twice a year, and we have a weather radio in our school office that will alert us if severe weather is approaching.
Security: Our doors and playground are always locked from the outside. We have a staff member at our entrance, and persons are only allowed in the building if they are deemed safe by our office staff. Our security camera system shows the entrances and hallways of our facility. This live camera feed is routed to the Clay County Sheriff's Department to assist them in case of an emergency. Active intruder drills are done by our staff twice a year.
