Our Curriculum


     The curriculum used at Cornerstone Christian Academy is a refreshing return to basic fundamentals for your child's total education.  We use the A Beka Book curriculum from the Christian publisher in Pensacola, Florida.

  Preschool
     The Pre-School curriculum has a readiness program which includes phonics, reading, writing, fine motor skills, and fun activities.  Children learn the alphabet letters and their sounds, number concepts from 1 to 20, and counting from 1 to 100.  The curriculum includes many small books, workbooks, and phonics cards.
     The school day will include a Bible lesson, phonics, numbers, writing, and snack milk.  There will be a socializing playtime each day.  The children will attend a fun-filled Chapel each Wednesday morning.

 Kindergarten
     Emphasis is placed on character development, basic phonics for reading and spelling, and becoming familiar with number facts.  This is a complete educational program that teaches children how to read phonetically.  The curriculum includes many small readers, workbooks, and phonics cards.  Your child will learn the letters and sounds of the alaphabet and will learn to read (1000 word vocabulary).  A complete range of subjects is covered, including writing, art, poetry, music, science, and numbers.  Your child will learn to count from 1 to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's.  Children find that the kindergarten curriculum is an evnjoyable learning experience.
     The school day will include a Bible lesson, phonics, numbers, writing, and snack  milk.  There will be a socializing playtime each day and alternating times of art, music, and PE.

Elementary
     This curriculum is a strong academic program that emphasizes the basics and recognizes that all truth comes from God, whether it be math, science, health, or any other subject.  Students participate in art, music, and physical education.
     The primary grades emphasize math and reading and introduces health, science, and history.
     Bible study is recognized as fundamentally important.  The Bible gives direction for this life and the only hope for the life to come.  Each class has a daily Bible lesson and the students participate in a weekly Chapel program.
